These girls’ Kilachand room will give you the ultimate dorm goals

These two gals went all out in the most minimalistic way possible

Freshmen Sydney Siwinski (CAS) and Angela Mei (CAS) showed us Terriers that sometimes less is more.

With their neutral tones and super clean tendencies, their Kilachand room killed the dorm game leaving us all behind in the dust.

Find out more on how you could achieve dorm perfection.

Keeping it simple in their cute and cozy room

Not only is their room super welcoming and roomy, but it also looks very well put together. Let the jealousy begin.

it’s even cute on the outside

How’d you two meet each other?

Sydney: Everyone did those typical long Facebook posts before coming here that described their living habits, and Angela messaged me about rooming together. We’re both really clean so that’s really what made the whole decision.

Angela: After that got arranged, we texted each other saying we wanted to do neutrals, and we have similar taste so everything worked out pretty well.

Organization is major key

How long did this take to put together?

Angela: I think it was finished within a day or two!

That’s quick! What about the level of difficulty?

Sydney: The lights were probably the most difficult to deal with.  We had to order so many different types until finally we got some that worked and looked nice.

Where did you buy your decor from?

Angela: I mostly got my stuff from IKEA and Target.

Sydney: Yeah, definitely a lot from Target and the wreath is from Restoration Hardware.

Simple, but elegant

If you had a theme for your dorm, what would you call it?

Sydney: Minimalistic, in a way. Just because it’s simple but it looks put together.

What individual aspects did each of you contribute to the decor?

Angela: I really like the color white as well as neutrals with a tiny pop of color. You can see that with my bedding, and how the framed A is blue.

Sydney: I would say that I brought in the gray. I really like the color, and I also brought in pictures and frames. Metal tones catch my eye.

A nice pop of color

Metallic details are hella cute

What’s your secret to keeping a good looking room?

Sydney: We clean it basically every night.

Angela: Once you commit to having it look like this, it just has to stay this way.

Any advice for people who want a room like yours?

Angela: Stick with a concept you really like and go from there. But don’t be afraid to blend in different things in as well so it’s not too matchy!

Sydney: Just keeping it clean and matched goes a really long way.
