SMG is being renamed to HAR

WTF?

If you go to BU, the only way you’ll know how to get around campus is by learning a plethora of acronyms.

The most complicated school to identify, however, has been the Questrom School of Business, previously known as the School of Management.

Known simply as “SMG,” in March 2015 the name was changed to the current “Questrom School of Business”. It was named for Allen Questrom, a former CEO of many department stores, who donated $50 million to Boston University.

A little cheat sheet for you

The building where the Questrom School of Business resides, however, is named after Rafik B. Hariri, the late former Prime Minister of Lebanon, who was a Boston University trustee. Both of Hariri’s sons attended BU, and his philanthropic foundation made a donation for the construction of the new building.

Thus, the SMG acronym will be replaced by the the acronym HAR effective as of right now.

HAR is effective immediately
