Remembering Alan Rickman: Terriers reflect on their favorite memories

“He had a voice like butter accompanied by a genius mind”

With the recent passing of Alan Rickman, some BU students reflect on their favorite memories of the actor.

Jordan, Sophomore

“Professor Snape gave me hope that people have good intentions, even if they’re perceived to be mean-spirited. Alan Rickman’s portrayal of the character will forever be a favorite childhood memory of mine and will remain in my heart, always.”

Emma, Freshman

“Alan Rickman was one of the faces of my childhood. Brooding Professor Snape haunted my nightmares while Dr. Lazarus and his strange head had me laughing. And to top if all off, he did this video. I’ll miss him, always.”

Lorenzo, Freshman

“Alan Rickman was a great man who acted in many movies that marked my adolescence. Severus Snape is just one of the many characters he played. I want to bear in my mind Colonel Brandon, whom he played in Sense and Sensibility, because Snape is ALWAYS going to take a place in my heart.”

Ezgi, Freshman

“Alan Rickman had a voice like butter accompanied with a genius mind that had a never ending fountain of wisdom. One quote he said that I’ll never forget ‘talent is an accident of genes and a responsibility.’ As an actor, he always treated his amazing talent with great responsibility and will be remembered for that.”

Lexi, Freshman

“My favorite memeory of Snape is in the seventh book/movie, when he’s dying and you find out the reason he was on Voldemort’s side. It’s because he had a major crush on Harry’s mom. That was so #tender.”

Taylor, Freshman

“I cried when he died on Harry Potter.”
