BREAKING: West Campus power is back on

Classes were canceled, Starbucks was closed, and people lost their shit

Though the rain has faded into a drizzle as students walk to and from classes, the powerful winds and rainfall from last night took a toll on some major spots in West Campus.

9am classes were cancelled for the College of General Studies, and students stood outside for close to 20 minutes waiting to be let into the building for their 10am classes, which were declared cancelled at 9.53am.

Freshman and sophomores gathered in the rain outside of the doors of the College of General Studies

“Why didn’t they email us?” inquired Meg, a sophomore at CGS.

“I could’ve been studying. I could’ve been in bed!”

When asked, the Dean of CGS assured the students that “an email will be sent out” regarding classes for the remainder of the day.

Students dispersed from the scene relatively quickly, some flagging down the BU Shuttle Bus to advise students who are traveling to CGS to go back home.

It doesn’t seem as if any other BU buildings were affected by the power outage, but the saddest loss of the day is the Starbucks Coffee in West Campus, whose doors were shut with a note apologizing to prospective customers.

The power was expected to come back for BU buildings within the next few hours, but as of 10:20 is back on.

The jury is still out for businesses and homes in the area.
