The weird and wonderful classes at Brown

Your guide to those gut courses you wish you had taken and now can.

The Tab team have compiled a list of courses for you to look out for this registration season. There are so many exceptional and strange courses that make Brown special, but are hard to keep track of. Whether you can’t decide what to major in or need a good gut course, check out this selection:

Meditation, UNIV1000-S01

This is a fantastic cross-curricular class that involves teaching a dance class to young children at a local school for autism. For students from all disciplines from Medicine, Science, Biology, Art, Dance, Music and more, this class teaches you how to find the bridges between your passions and create a course of study that will help you make a positive impact on the world.

This class takes you to JAPAN. If you are free between June 1-12 and are lucky enough to get into this class, then you’ll find you will learn more than just the fascinating history of Rinzai Zen Buddhism.

A First Byte of Computer Science, CSCI0080

A great skill to coming away from Brown with, beyond how to drink, smoke and go many days without sleep, is coding. Computer Science is the tipping point, and in some cases a requirement, in many job applications. The generation bellow us have grown up using iPads and learn CS as a mandatory class in middle school. This class is a slightly less stressful and very interesting intro into CS.

Introduction to iPhone/iPad Moviemaking Using 3-D and 4K Comparisons, HMAN1971S

“Last week we met at the Providence Place Mall to watch The Walk in 3D. That was our class for the week.” – Student taking HMAN1971 this semester.
