BPOC of the week: Clyde the tortoise

When he isn’t napping, he’s eating strawberries and roaming his house

This week’s Big Pet On Campus is none other than Clyde the Tortoise.

Never seen him? That’s because he’s lightning fast. When he isn’t racing around his house, Clyde is regaining his strength either eating or sleeping.

Name: Clyde, after the Tortoise in the TV Show, “Elementary”

Age: six

Clyde was purchased at Creatures, Creatures, Creatures in Johnston, RI.

Sex: Male

Breed: Russian Tortoise

Likes: Roaming around, endive (it’s a vegetable), strawberries and sitting in dark corners

Clyde typically eats fruits and green vegetables equivalent to his body weight, one pound.

After Clyde eats, he’s really tired. He usually goes into a dark space, or his cage to take a nap. Here’s a video of him yawning after all the food he just ate:

A typical day for Clyde consists of waking up at 10am, clawing at the cage until someone opens it for him, roaming around the apartment for an hour, then taking a nap for the rest of the day.
