Is this lil hedgehog the cutest pet on campus?

Atcha wants everyone to know she’s single and ready to mingle

She may be small, but she is definitely this week’s Big Pet on Campus.

Atcha lives with seniors Noel Park, Alexa Van Hattum, Emily Richmond, Alisa Berg, Marcy Hwang and Kate Storey-Fisher in the Pony Palace on East Manning. This little lady was adopted in July in Lyme, CT.

Name: Atcha, short for Atchafalaya. She’s named after the Atchafalaya River in Louisiana.

Age: 20 months

Sex: Female

Breed: African Hedgehog

Likes: Zucchini, beetles, cat food

Dislikes: Cucumbers

Celebrity crush: Sonic

Relationship status: Single and ready to mingle

Owner Noel said: “She’s pretty cute, low maintenance and I don’t have to worry about her being eaten by other animals in the house — we’ve foster cared for some dogs and a cat recently — because she can protect herself. Strong, independent female hedgie, am I right?”

Here’s a video of Atcha being cleaned with a toothbrush. Noel says she needs minimal care.

“We give her a bath every other week and we use baby shampoo because hedgehog skin is very sensitive.  I brush her spikes with a toothbrush while bathing.”
