A pig named Gummy Bear is this week’s big pet on campus

His owner got the idea of adopting a pig while watching Teen Mom 2

Meet Gummy Bear, aka Gummy, the six-month-old micro-pig. With his long eyelashes and constant snorts, he’s certainly a neighborhood favorite.

His owner, Kady Spann, is a senior at Auburn studying Public Relations. Kady was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that inhibits her from completing many everyday tasks. Although she also owns two cats, she can’t walk them around the neighborhood.

Instead, Kady chose a more unique pet to keep her energized and exercising.

Kady is a big fan of MTV’s “Teen Mom 2.” While she was watching, she noticed one of the moms, Chelsea, bought a pig. Kady then found the website with breeder information and had Gummy Bear shipped from California to Atlanta, where she picked him up from the airport.

It wasn’t completely spontaneous, though, as she’s been playing around with the idea of getting a pig for the last year.

And she didn’t pick the name – Gummy Bear was pre-named by his breeder.

His favorite activities include playing ball in the ball pit and enjoying the outdoors with his neighborhood friends.

The ball pit has an oversized stuffed bear. Gummy enjoys long naps on the bear, providing you rub his belly first.

But owning a pig isn’t all fun and games, Kady said.

“Gummy Bear is extremely loud and doesn’t enjoy being picked up. He can also be extremely stubborn.”

Of course, he is pretty talented. His best trick is rolling over, but he is much to modest for it to be captured on camera.
