ASU student dies after falling several stories at Tempe high-rise
The investigation is ongoing at the time
Friday night an Arizona State University student fell from the 20th floor off a balcony at a Tempe apartment building.
According to abc15, authorities were called to the West 6th building near 5th Street and Ash Avenue Friday night after receiving reports of a person who fell off a balcony at the high-rise.
Tempe spokeswoman Officer Kelly Angel said the student was a male in his 20s. His name will not be released until the family has been notified.
Cedric Moore, an upstairs neighbor who heard the incident said, "I just heard a lot of screaming; a lot of yelling," Moore said.
An ASU spokesperson confirmed that the victim was a student at the school but provided no further details.Authorities say the man was dead at the scene and his body was found near the seventh-level pool area.
According to residents of the building, the apartments are considered a popular "after party spot," for students when the bars close.
A similar incident happened in 2014 when an ASU student died after falling from a balcony in the 922 Place apartment complex.
The investigation is ongoing at the time.
