The shocking real reason the church required Mary Cosby to marry her step-grandfather
This is so utterly strange
The Cult of the Real Housewife releases tonight, with the documentary exposing the involvement of Mary Cosby in her church, including her relationship with her step-grandfather.
However, the real reason the pair got married in the first place is absolutely shocking.

Mary Cosby’s grandmother, Rosemary, originally founded the church and Mary was told that in order for her to take over the running of it all she would have to marry her grandma’s second husband upon her death.
Robert Sr served as the bishop of the church, and in Rosemary’s will she stated that Mary Cosby would only be able to inherit the church and its assets if she married her step-grandfather.
Mary has since admitted to knowing the arrangement was odd, saying: “That was odd to both of us. Marry me? He obeyed what Mama wanted. He wasn’t trying to do anything extra.”

In a conversation with Heather Gay, Mary expanded on the situation further, saying: “He is not my blood at all. I did marry him, I didn’t want to, Heather. I didn’t want to.
“That’s weird to me, but my grandmother really did want me to, so I obeyed her. I trusted every step-grandfather Robert Cosby Sr as part of her grandmother’s will.”
When Mary Cosby married Robert Sr, she was only in her twenties whilst he was in his forties having been married to her grandmother for 22 years before she passed.
And despite their unusual relationship the pair are still together today, with Mary saying he’s helped her immensely throughout her life.
