Love on the Spectrum James’ mom breaks silence on his romance: ‘I don’t want him to get hurt’

The Love on the Spectrum season three episodes have all aired now, but the cast is literally the gift that keeps on giving. Since their sons joined the Netflix show last year, Nicci Smith and Lise Smith launched a podcast called Talk To Me Sis. Cast member James’ mum just appeared on the pod and she shared her true feelings on his romance.
James and Shelley found love in season three
After joining Love on the Spectrum three years ago, people got to see James finally find love with Shelley at the end of season three.
The two met online, and she joined him for his birthday party during the Netflix show.
During the TTMS podcast episode, Connor’s mom, Lise, said: “Watching James with Shelley… very doting, considerate boyfriend.”
James’ mum June agreed and added: “He always asks her if everything is OK…”

June went on to add how Shelley is also on the spectrum, which comes with some challenges.
She said: “James will blurt out things without thinking. He analyses things, so they’ve had a few little discussions over that because he might say something not realising that he should’ve phrased it this way instead, and she’ll analyse it and say ‘why didn’t you say it like that’.”
“They’re working on that, which is funny because James is so formal in his speech…” June added.
Speaking on how it’s been for her as a mum, she continued: “It’s wonderful, it really is… James is talking about this is permanent and long term, and living together…”
The Love on the Spectrum star continued: “Being a mom, I don’t want him hurt, so, you know, I want to make sure that she feels the same way, kind of thing, it is, it’s terrific.”
