Danny Beard reveals the shocking real reason they’d ‘never’ return for a Drag Race spinoff show
They admitted it wouldn't happen 'in a million years'
Danny Beard may have starred in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season four, and was even crowned the UK’s Next Drag Superstar during the finale.
However, they recently admitted that he’d ‘never’ return to Drag Race ‘in a million years’, and there’s a shocking reason behind their decision.
Unlike the original US version of Drag Race, the UK version doesn’t offer any cash prizes or sponsorship opportunities to its contestants, with many of the UK cast members having to use their own money to fund their outfits.
Drag Race star Danny Beard revealed that they spent a whopping £25,000 on costumes and accessories for the show.
They admitted that whilst he loved his time on the show, they wouldn’t want to appear on a Drag Race spinoff where they’re not going to get paid.
When asked whether they’d ever consider appearing in a Drag Race spinoff, Danny Beard told the Daily Mail: “Absolutely not. Not in a million years.
“It was the best platform ever. I felt looked after, I felt nurtured, I’m so grateful for the opportunity – but the truth is, it cost me 25 grand to do.
“I feel like I’d like to do telly now where I’m being paid rather than me pay! I don’t want to sound like an idiot. I knew what I was getting myself in for and I’m not ever going to trash that show.”
