The news first came out from Joey’s sister, who revealed in a TikTok comment how Monica had a secret boyfriend after the show, which they said is “totally fine” as she “deserves to be happy.” But you’ll never guess who Monica met him through…
Well, she was at a group hangout with some of the cast, when she met one of Mason’s friends. Mason is the guy dating Meg, and Meg became Monica’s bestie during and after season eight. They “just started chatting,” she revealed, after saying she “wanted to set the record straight” in a recent Swoon interview.
“To be very clear, I did not have a secret boyfriend at all,” she stressed. “This was probably, I want to say, six months after filming ended.” To be more specific, Monica met him in the summer, and it’s safe to say she had a bit of a holiday romance. When Monica and Joey were back on speaking terms, she told him about the guy she was casually dating because she “wanted to be cognizant of his feelings.”
Unfortunately, things didn’t work out between them
Monica has explained that her brief romance with Mason’s friend didn’t work out. They dated casually for two to three months, but that was as long as it lasted. She said, “Things didn’t work out, and that was fine, and this was during the time when I wasn’t talking to Joey at all. She later added, “He knew all about it, not like he needed to, but I just wanted to be respectful of knowing that because we were engaged.”
She confirmed again, “But this was not a secret boyfriend.” Although Monica was upfront about her dating situation, she claims she hasn’t heard from Joey at all since right before the reunion, where she saw him sit next to Sara. According to Monica, Sara called her about rumors she’s dating Joey after the reunion, but Joey has yet to reach out.
