Wait, what exactly is a ‘lavender marriage’?! Khloe Kardashian hinted she’d have one
She's not even actively dating at the moment
Khloe Kardashian is hinting she’d have a ‘lavender marriage’ but I genuinely had no idea what it was. She’s not actively dating at the moment, but is open to the concept in her future. Khloe has had her fair share of failed relationships, from her marriage with Lamar Odom after just one month of dating, to her on-off relationship with Tristan Thompson.
Khloe hints she’d have a ‘lavender marriage’
Khloe has hinted she’d be open to a lavender marriage. She expressed an interest in the unique type of marriage in a comment to content creator AJ Dronkers’ Instagram video about the topic. He said he’d be the perfect candidate, which included his cooking and designing skills, being a conservationist, bringing flowers, and other skills, in the February 11 video.
He captioned the video, “Who’s in? #lavendermarriage #datingproblems #single #lgbt #women.” Then, out of nowhere, Khloe piped up and commented with six women-raising-hand emojis and purple hearts! It’s the first time she’s ever hinted she’d be up for the form of marriage, which is especially shocking as she said she’s enjoying spending time with kids right now, and isn’t actively dating.
Um, what exactly is a lavender marriage?
The term ‘lavender marriage’ is a slang phrase for a straight woman marrying a gay man. It dates back to the early 20th century, and is known as a union between a man and a woman where one or both of them is queer. The purpose of the marriage is to hide the sexual orientation of the queer person or people in the marriage to protect them.
If you’re wondering why the word ‘lavender’ plays a part, it comes from the association of the color lavender with homosexuality in the 1920s and 1930s. It became a way for people to navigate the world during a time when being part of the LGBTQ+ community wasn’t accepted or encouraged. They don’t really happen these days like they did in the early noughties.
