Okay, so The Love Hypothesis has only just been released on Prime Video, but we’re already getting a sequel with more Olive and Adam drama. The romantic comedy, based on Ali Hazelwood’s 2021 novel, was released last week and quickly shot to the top of Prime Video’s worldwide film chart. And now, Hazelwood has confirmed that she has written a direct sequel to the book. Which means there is actually more of Adam and Olive’s story coming. The sequel is called The Two-Body Problem, and it’s set to be released on 2 February 2027. Hazelwood announced the news on Instagram, explaining that writing another book about Adam and Olive wasn’t something she originally expected to do. She wrote, “‘I wrote a sequel to The Love Hypothesis’ is not a sentence I thought I’d say a year or so ago, but now I weirdly can’t imagine a world in which The Two-Body Problem doesn’t exist.” And considering how much the first book has been talked about since its release, it’s not that surprising that we are getting another chapter. So, what has Ali Hazelwood said about the sequel? Credit: Prime Video Hazelwood explained that revisiting Adam and Olive was partly inspired by the new The Love Hypothesis film and its cast. She said, “I’m really eager to talk more about this book and how it came about in the next few months. For now let me just say that the TLH movie and its cast made me fall for Adam and Olive all over again, [and] that revisiting them was an absolute pleasure.” She has also given us a pretty clear idea of what kind of story it will be. Basically, The Two-Body Problem “spans a couple of years” and will be a mix of “slice-of-life, postdoctoral turmoil, and unflinching exploration of the hardest challenge one will face in a long-term relationship: Deciding what to have for dinner.” Ali Hazelwood is so real for this. Is The Love Hypothesis sequel becoming a film? View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ali Hazelwood (@alihazelwood) <br>The author said, “Nothing is guaranteed, but MRC is developing a film based on The Two-Body Problem for Amazon MGM Studios.” According to the book description, the sequel will follow Olive after she gets her PhD and starts her life with Adam. But things are not exactly a happily-ever-after. Between demanding schedules, a seriously competitive academic job market and Olive wanting to be known for her own work, the pair will have plenty to deal with. As the pressure builds, Olive will have to set the “confounding variables” aside and trust her heart. The Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman movie has been a big hit since arriving on Prime Video. It reached the top of the streamer’s worldwide film chart after its 23 September release and is still in first place at the time of writing. The film has also received a 74 per cent rating from 500-plus audience reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. I just hope that when the film is finally made, they don’t cut any of the important scenes that give the story its essence.
