What the Lioness cast has said about season 4 after that Joe and Aaliyah cliffhanger ending

Lioness season 3 has officially ended, and that finale left a lot hanging, so here’s what the cast has said about season 4 and whether it’s actually happening.

Joe McNamara, played by Zoe Saldaña, comes home after being kidnapped, only to find that her husband Neal has left with their children. Then, right at the end, we find out Aaliyah Amrohi, the woman Joe’s team crossed paths with back in season 1, was actually behind the whole thing.

So, what has the cast said about a possible Lioness season 4, and when could it actually happen? Here’s what we know.

What the Lioness cast has said about season 4

Nicole Kidman, who plays CIA boss Kaitlyn Meade, has been pretty open about wanting Lioness to continue. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nicole said, “We need to have loud voices. I’m passionate about the show, so I’m glad other people are. It really seems to connect more and more with people as they discover it.”

After the season 3 finale, Nicole also told Collider that she does not want to leave Kaitlyn’s story here. Talking about the possibility of another season, she said, “I honestly have no idea. I’m like, ‘Okay, what would this do, if we go a Season 4?’ I know we’d love to.”

She then added, “Then shout that out to him. Taylor, are you listening? No. I don’t want to leave it there.”

Nicole also thinks there is still loads more to explore with Kaitlyn. She said the show has “only tipped the iceberg of her” and that there is “so much to come, if we get the chance.”

She also spoke about Kaitlyn’s complicated relationship with Joe, saying, “She’s collecting data. Kaitlyn is watching. She knows Joe’s family. She knows her intrinsically.”

At the same time, Kaitlyn knows how valuable Joe is to the team. Nicole said Kaitlyn has “deep care for Joe”, but she also has to hold her accountable because of the responsibility that comes with the job.

Zoe Saldaña, meanwhile, has been talking about what the finale means for Joe and Neal. Joe survives her kidnapping, but when she gets home, Neal has left with their children. Zoe has made it clear that she does not necessarily see their story ending there.

She said, “I’m selfish, and if we are able to come back and do a season 4, I wouldn’t want their story to just have ended like that.”

She also described Joe and Neal as being “like doves, they mate for life.”

Laysla De Oliveira, who plays Cruz, is also hoping there is more to come. She said that if there are future seasons, she wants to see more of Cruz’s home life and her relationship with Josie.

She also has an interesting idea for Cruz’s future, saying she would “love to see how Cruz is with a Lioness and how she would approach that. … What if Cruz got to do Joe’s job?”

Jill Wagner, who plays Bobby, has been even more confident about the possibility of another season. Speaking to ScreenRant in August, she said, “We’re gonna get a season 4.”

She even joked that she would pay $100 if that did not happen after fans saw what Sheridan had written for the finale. I’m sold!

So, has Lioness been renewed for season 4?

As of the time of writing, Lioness has not officially been renewed for season 4. That does not necessarily mean we will have to wait forever for an answer. The previous renewal took a while too. Season 3 was not confirmed until October 2025, almost a year after season 2 ended in December 2024, so let’s not lose hope.

If season 4 does get the green light, though, there is already a pretty obvious story waiting for it.
