If you’ve been anywhere near Twitter lately, you might have seen the bizarre claim that Sydney Sweeney and former Barcelona footballer Ferran Torres have been spotted kissing in Marseille, so here’s what’s going on and whether they are really dating.

Some of the posts sharing the photo have racked up millions of views, with people apparently convinced they’ve uncovered a brand-new celebrity romance. Some posts are also claiming Scooter Braun had unfollowed Sydney Sweeney after she was supposedly spotted with Torres.

So, what is actually going on here?

The photo doing the rounds shows Sweeney in a pink bikini and braids, sitting close to a man wearing blue shorts on a yacht. The posts now claim the man is Ferran Torres and that the pair were spotted together in Marseille.

Except, well, he isn’t Ferran Torres. The photographs are actually old images of Sweeney with her ex Jonathan Davino. It’s from a trip they took to Capri, Italy, in 2021.

Contemporary reports from the time identified Davino as the man pictured with Sweeney, and photographs from the holiday show the same pink bikini, hairstyle, and man wearing the straw hat and blue shorts that appear in the viral posts.

Sweeney was in a long-term relationship with Davino before they eventually split. They were first linked in 2018 and kept their relationship fairly private. They were photographed together several times over the years, including during holidays.

Sweeney and Davino were also reported to have become engaged in 2022.

There is also no credible reporting establishing that Sweeney and Torres were together in Marseille or that the photograph was taken there.

And what about Scooter Braun unfollowing Sydney Sweeney?

Some viral posts claimed Scooter Braun had unfollowed Sweeney after she was supposedly spotted with Torres. But that is also not true.

Sweeney and Braun have been publicly dating since 2025, and they made their relationship much more public this year. In April 2026, Sweeney shared a photograph of herself with Braun on Instagram, which he reposted. Since then, they’ve continued to be seen together publicly.

And, rather inconveniently for the breakup rumours, they were photographed together in Mallorca just days ago. Reports from 16 August showed Sweeney and Braun spending time together on David Geffen’s yacht, including going out on a jet ski.

And a quick look at both their followings will reveal that they are still following each other. And very much together.
