Following concerns over Jenna Ortega’s health in a new interview, the Wednesday star’s sister Aliyah Ortega has responded to a lengthy post about the conversation. Ortega appeared in an interview with Esquire this week, where she unpacked the overnight success of Wednesday as she shoots season three of the Netflix series, as well as what it was like as a child actor and the many other projects she’s involved in. But the conversation surrounding the interview has moved away from her work and towards her appearance, with many expressing concern over her slim figure. Others have clapped back at the commentary, including Instagram user Amrita Singh, who shared a lengthy statement that reads, “I think everyone should mind their own business and leave Jenna Ortega alone, especially after her recent interview has created so many questions and assumptions about her health.” They went on to say the actress “doesn’t owe anyone an explanation” and that “her body belongs to her.” “We don’t know what she may be going through, and we shouldn’t assume anything based on appearances or a few comments from an interview,” Singh added. “Sometimes the most respectful thing we can do is simply give someone privacy, support them, and let them be… She deserves privacy, peace, and the freedom to live her life without constantly being questioned or analysed.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amrita Singh (@dj.singhhnyc) Ortega’s sister, Aliyah, has since responded to the post, giving it a like and also seemingly accentuating her support of the message by commenting a series of exclamation points. The response comes after Ortega spoke about struggling with the level of attention that followed Wednesday. In the Esquire interview itself, the actress reflected on just how dramatically her life changed after the series took off, having initially believed the role could actually end her career rather than launch her to another level of fame. Naming Wednesday as her biggest creative gamble, she said, “I thought my career was going to be over after that. I panicked. I had no idea. I was so confused. And then they started talking about this show and this big release that they were doing.” “When we were shooting in Romania, it felt like this small little thing, which maybe was naive because Tim Burton was involved.
