Scott Eastwood has opened up about a heated confrontation he had with Shia LaBeouf while filming the 2014 war film Fury, calling his former co-star a “psychopath” and saying Brad Pitt had to step in to calm things down. Fury was released in 2014, with stories about Shia LaBeouf‘s extreme method acting emerging throughout the film’s production. At the time, several reports claimed the actor stayed in character throughout filming. And he took drastic measures to make his performance feel authentic. ‘I’m gonna whoop your a**’ Credit: Columbia Pictures Now, speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, Eastwood reflected on his time working with LaBeouf, who he described as an intense method actor. “Look, Shia is clearly tormented and has maybe got some stuff going on. It was tough,” Eastwood said. He explained that the pair clashed after LaBeouf objected to him “spitting tobacco on the tank, which was in the script.” He added, “Then I finally said, enough is enough. I said, ‘F**k you. Stop pulling your s**t.’ I said, ‘I’m gonna whoop your a**.’” Eastwood said the confrontation became so tense that Brad Pitt, who also starred in the film, stepped in before things could get any worse. The actor also spoke about LaBeouf’s approach to method acting, saying he went much further than most performers would. He said, “And I remember thinking, ‘OK. This guy’s crazy. I’m just gonna keep clear from this guy. I don’t play this game.’” Eastwood claimed LaBeouf even pulled out one of his own teeth and cut himself to get into character while playing tank gunner Boyd “Bible” Swan in Fury. “You go and do that, but there’s plenty of ways to do a performance in a movie and be professional also, right?” he added. Elsewhere in the interview, Eastwood suggested he was not the only person who struggled with LaBeouf during production. “Everyone had moments with Shia,” he said, before adding, “Grow the f**k up.” He continued, “It’s funny.
