A heartbreaking video has emerged showing Kaylee Hottle sharing her hopes for her character Jia Andrews in the next Godzilla vs. Kong film. Kaylee died on Tuesday, July 21st, following a fatal car crash in Ijamsville, Maryland. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office has since revealed that the 19-year-old actress was the only fatality in the single vehicle collision, which is currently under investigation. Tributes continue to pour in for the late star, who made her acting debut as Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong before reprising the role in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Her character, a deaf orphan adopted by Monarch scientist Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall), shares a unique bond with Kong and communicates using American Sign Language (ASL). Kaylee was born deaf and comes from a deaf family spanning four generations on her father’s side. Both her parents, Joshua and Ketsi Hottle, have shared ASL statements on the news. As details emerge on the tragic incident, an interview of Kaylee expressing her hopes for Jia at The New Empire premiere has resurfaced, indicating she was interested in seeing the character’s journey continue in the next Monsterverse movie. The upcoming sequel, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, wasn’t announced until a year after the interview took place in 2024. In the clip from Hollywood Elite, she says, “I’d like to see Jia help her people, the Iwi tribe. Jia can do many, many amazing things and in this movie, it’s so much bigger for her, and I think she can do so many better things after this.” Was Kaylee Hottle cast in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova? Although Kaylee had spoken about where she hoped Jia’s story could go next, she was not among the cast announced for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is currently in production and due to release in March 2027.
