Inde Navarrette is currently flying high following her star-making role as Nikki in Obsession, but the actress has faced accusations of being “rude” after a fan gifted her a rare edition of a Call of Duty game. However, others have jumped in to defend her. In case you didn’t know, Inde is a massive gamer. Long before her role in Curry Barker’s horror hit, the actress started streaming under the Twitch handle indenavarrette in July 2022. While Obsession wasn’t her first acting gig – she also starred in 13 Reasons Why and Superman & Lois – clips of her gaming really took off following the global success of her latest film. Some of the most popular videos show her playing games like The Last of Us, but most of the focus has been on her expertise in the Call of Duty franchise. And so, over the weekend, she was included in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Fanatics Fest panel in New York. As she walked out, a fan gifted her a sealed early copy of Modern Warfare 2. @collect A fan surprised “Obsession” star Inde Navarrette with a rare copy of Call of Duty 🥹 Before her movie career took off, Navarrette spent time streaming games on Twitch and has said gaming helped her get through a difficult stretch between acting roles, making this gift feel even more personal. Safe to say this is one collectible she’ll never forget. ♬ original sound – Fanatics Collect The now-viral clip shows the fan explaining, “This is one of the rarest, earliest copies of Modern Warfare 2.” Inde excitedly adds, “This is the 2009 version,” to which the fan says, “Yes. And one recently sold for $1000.” Indeed, if you look on eBay, you’ll see multiple copies selling for between $1000-$1500 – one is even going for nearly $25,000. In response, Inde says, “Well, I’m not selling this one.” When asked where she’s going to put it, she replies, “In my house. In my room,” before walking away. Although it’s clear Inde is excited by the gift, some viewers have taken issue with her response, with some noting that she doesn’t thank the fan in the video. “Not even a thank you,” wrote one on TikTok, while another commented, “No thank you is crazy.” “She didn’t even ask if it’s for her,” added a third, and a fourth simply said, “Rude.” Credit: Focus Features Others believe actors and celebrities shouldn’t be given handouts. “Why are we handing out strangers free sh*t, like these actors aren’t rich,” said one. Another wrote, “So somebody spent $1000 on a videogame just to give it to a rich celebrity.” But the backlash has been met with a wave of commenters jumping in to defend the star, with many pointing out that she may have thanked the fan off screen. “If there’s a cut in the video you can assume they probably said thanks,” said one. Another pointed out, “This reaction is 100% better than a little ‘thank you’ with no facial expressions besides a forced smile.” A third added, “Good lord let her be excited she’s CLEARLY grateful.” And a fourth chimed in, “‘Ungrateful’ and then shows the most genuine expression of gratefulness in history.” And on the topic of her being called a “rich” actor, one person said, “Why are people in the comments acting like anyone besides maybe Curry Barker is rich? “Inde got paid 20k for the entire movie and most actors esp indie actors are severely underpaid.
