Tom Holland was actually the one who told Zendaya Christopher Nolan wanted to meet her Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey has one of the most stacked casts in recent memory, bringing together Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron to retell Homer’s ancient Greek tale of Odysseus’ long journey home after the Trojan War. But it turns out Zendaya didn’t hear about her involvement from Nolan himself at first. Via Universal Speaking to Gino TV, the actress explained that Holland got the call about the film before she did after being cast as Telemachus. After his own meetings with the director, he came home with another surprise: Nolan also wanted to meet Zendaya about playing the Greek goddess Athena. “I remember when he first got the phone call [for The Odyssey] and I was like over the moon. So excited. I was like, ‘You have to do this. We’ve got to figure out the schedule. Like we’re gonna, this is going to get done.’ And then he was able to come home and tell me, ‘Hey, you got a meeting with Mr. Nolan as well.’ That was so special. I couldn’t have imagined it, you know, getting any better.” Via Netflix The couple are set to appear together in The Odyssey, joining Matt Damon’s Odysseus, before reuniting on cinema screens just two weeks later in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Even though she’s one of the film’s stars, Zendaya admitted she still hasn’t watched the finished version of The Odyssey, which was shot entirely using IMAX cameras. In a behind-the-scenes IMAX feature, she said she’s just as excited as everyone else to finally see it. “As a fan I’m so excited to see this film,” she said. “I cannot wait to sit in an IMAX theatre and completely be lost in this world that he’s [director Sir Christopher Nolan] has created.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
