Milly Alcock has already had to face scrutiny from trolls online after taking on the role of Supergirl, and now an actor who once played Superman has chimed in and responded to a cruel meme. Alcock first cameoed as Kara Zor-El at the end of the DCU’s Superman, and now we’re just weeks away from Supergirl dropping in cinemas. The actress has previously spoken about the misogynistic comments she’s received in this space, telling Vanity Fair that her role on House of the Dragon prepared her for Supergirl. “It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on,” she said. “We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies. I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.” In a more recent interview with Variety, Alock described how nasty comments about her appearance often come from “people whose profiles have no photo, who are burner accounts. Or someone’s name and then ‘Dad of four, Christian,’ which is hilarious to me.” Although Milly’s not fazed by it and is choosing to ignore the hate, her fans have jumped in to defend the DCU star after Dean Cain joined in on the insults. Dean Cain is facing backlash from Milly Alcock fans Cain responded to a post mocking Milly’s appearance by comparing her to Chaka from the Land of the Lost. “Dang it… I laughed,” he wrote. Making fun of Milly Alcock despite being an Actor is fucking insane. Another reason why I hate Dean Cain pic.twitter.com/Aem616oHm2 — Superman (@SupermanMOG) June 8, 2026 The response has faced a huge backlash, not least because Cain himself famously played Superman in the 1990s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. More recently, he sparked backlash after announcing his decision to join ICE as an honorary officer. One Alcock fan shared side-by-side pictures of her and Cain, writing, “She mogs you and your entire inbred bloodline.” dean.. i know your ugly fatass ain’t laughingshe mogs you and your entire inbred bloodline https://t.co/HE6QOuBHQb pic.twitter.com/8ejXqUatFX — tall god (@benardonhard) June 9, 2026 Another said, “Making fun of Milly Alcock despite being an actor is f**king insane. Another reason why I hate Dean Cain.” “You should really start looking for jobs bro. Being the worst Superman doesn’t seem to pay well,” added a third, while a fourth chimed in, “This is why no one includes you when we talk about past Supermen. You ain’t him.” Plenty of netizens have referenced the fact that he played the Man of Steel, including this person who said, “I hated him as Superman as a kid before I even knew he was a total d*ck.” “You being one of the actors that played Superman in a film ending up being the total opposite for what Superman is or is supposed to represent is actually very disappointing,” wrote a second. “Even the season of Supergirl you were in is unwatchable because you make me sick!” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
