*Warning: Major spoilers ahead for The Boys season five finale* Homelander has done some messed up things throughout The Boys, but his most messed up moment certainly wasn’t in the season five finale – so what happened, Antony Starr? In the last ever episode of the Prime Video series, Homelander and Butcher duke it out in a bloody showdown, which ends with Kimiko using her new radioactive abilities to depower Homelander. Finally, Butcher is able to get a clear shot, and he kills the blonde-haired sociopath with a crowbar to the head. Perfect. Prior to this, Homelander was making his case to the world as a new God, but his measured speech is derailed when he’s triggered by the word “father” on the autocue. Oh, and he also kills Gunter Van Ellis – a billionaire who is clearly a satirical take on Elon Musk. Why am I saying all this? Because Homie is his usual a-hole self, but he doesn’t do anything particularly out of the ordinary. The same can be said for the rest of season five. Sure, he beat up his own son Ryan, killed Firecracker, and attempted a complete authoritarian takeover of the US. But the issue here is that actor Antony Starr promised the “most f**ked up thing” Homelander ever did would be in season five and, well, is it in the room with us? Antony Starr promised Homelander’s worst act yet During the press run, Starr made multiple references to an irredeemable act in season five. Speaking to Wired, he said, “I think the most f**ked up thing Homelander did is in season five, which I can’t spoil. I can’t wait for you to see that.” He took this one step further on the Kelly Clarkson Show, bringing up the season one moment whereby Homelander waves at a kid on a plane before lasering it in half. Starr added, “And the worst thing I have done is yet to come and I can’t wait… If you think killing children is bad, just wait.” His comments sparked a flurry of speculation as fans tried to predict what horrors were set to unfold. After all, Homelander killed even more kids in a second plane incident, forced the Deep to eat his friend alive, hooked up with a Nazi criminal, and murdered his mother figure. But perhaps the most shocking in the context of the show is the fact that he raped Becca and then forced her to live in solitude while raising his child. He and Stormfront then tried to take Ryan from her, inadvertently resulting in her death. It’s hard to imagine what could be worse, which is why fans were assuming he would kill a baby on screen or massacre a HUGE group of innocent people – or both. Don’t get me wrong, Homelander is despicable in everything he does, and his attempt to take over America is horrifying. But Starr made it sound like we were going to see something unthinkable play out on screen, and fans are starting to notice. The Boys fans genuinely expected something more disturbing Since the release of the finale, one took to X to share the Wired clip, alongside the caption, “So what the f**k was this about Antony, huh?” so what the fuck was this about antony, huh? pic.twitter.com/iniwiSh8qX — grace | the boys s5 spoilers (@hvmestarr) May 20, 2026 Another agreed, “Thought we were finally gonna get batsh*t crazy Homie, brought my hopes up for what,” while a third added, “I thought he’d kill Terror or a pregnant woman by ripping the baby out of her stomach or some sh*t.” Others have been speculating whether he was referring to the moment he beat Ryan up or when he begged Butcher to spare him in the finale. “Maybe he was referring to the part where Homie wanted to suck Butcher’s d*ck and eat his sh*t on live,” said one, while another wrote, “I mean beating Ryan to near death maybe, but that doesn’t compare to what he did to Becca so.” There are also plenty of fans who think there could’ve been a scene that got deleted down the line, but the OP argued, “I’m sure there’s deleted scenes but he won’t have been referring to a scene that didn’t make it into the final cut.” Not everyone feels let down, however, including this person who said, “Taking over an entire country, introducing concentration camps, and declaring yourself a god for people to worship isn’t f**ked up to you?” Well, when you put it like that.
