Sneaky cinema people have shared the trailer for The Boys spin-off, and it’s not what we expected

No phones in the cinema is just a suggestion, apparently

The Boys is officially over now after Homelander’s satisfying death via crowbar, but Amazon is already working on numerous spin-offs, Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico.

The Boys’ first spin-off, Gen V, was a massive success for Amazon, so it made complete sense to greenlight a bunch of other shows set in the same universe. Of course, they’ve since cancelled Gen V for some unknown reason. Seriously, it’s the stupidest decision a streamer has made since Netflix banned account sharing.

I can’t say the internet is bubbling with excitement over Vought Rising, but the teaser that was shown in cinemas after The Boys’ finale might be changing some perspectives.

The Boys spin-off Vought Rising has got its first teaser?!

The final episode of The Boys was shown in select cinemas ahead of the Amazon Prime drop, and according to those who attended, it was a complete event. People were even given plushies of Butcher’s dog, Terror, and I’m very jealous.

Though cinemas tend to have strict rules about phones and filming, a few naughty people live-streamed some of the episode. Videos now flooding Twitter seemingly depict the official teaser for Vought Rising.

Set in the 1950s, the teaser seemingly opens with a throwback shot of Soldier Boy – not to be confused with the rapper Soulja Boy – in his superhero getup. We then get a look at the other lead heroes like Private Angel, Bombsight, and Torpedo.

There’s also a brief look at Aya Cash’s Liberty, who we actually know as Stormfront in modern times.

What’s Vought Rising actually about?

When Vought Rising was first announced last season, a lot of people questioned why we’re making a show about a literal Nazi and a racist version of Captain America. Though it was bound to have that political commentary from The Boys, the show seemed a little lost without likeable protagonists.

Described as a murder mystery of sorts, Vought Rising will address the earliest days of Vought International and how superheroes became the biggest commodity since gold. Ethan Slater’s Thomas Godolkin, who debuted in Gen V, will also feature.

“We didn’t change the playbook,” Soldier Boy’s actor Jensen Ackles earlier told Polygon. “These guys with The Boys created such an incredible world and an amazing roadmap. We’re not looking to recreate it. We’re looking to capitalise on it and to continue it.”

As for when Vought Rising is actually out, it’s pegged for a 2027 release. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke said the first season has already been written, and it could branch out from there.

“It has a season-wide story that has a satisfying ending, but then it definitely opens a door into a new adventure and a new world, and we would love to keep it going,” he said. “That is up to the powers that be.”

People have reacted pretty well to the teaser

Despite the initial concerns surrounding Vought Rising, people on Twitter actually seem to like the alleged teaser.

“Angel looks so good omg,” one person said, as another added, “This looks cool af.”

But there are some detractors, as one explained: “These people have dementia, this spinoff is literally ruining the final season, and people still hyping up.”

“I wonder how they will make us sympathise and root for a bunch of nazis,” another added.
