If Euphoria season three episode five left you fearing for the life of Rue (Zendaya), there’s a forgotten scene that’ll put any doubts to bed. Sam Levinson’s chaos continued in the latest installment of the HBO series, with Maddy (Alexa Demie) now managing Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) OnlyFans career, which has blown up since she was spotted with influencer Brandon Fontaine (Jeff Wahlberg). As such, the entire first sequence is dedicated to a string of explicit scenes as Cassie caters to a wide variety of fetishes, from toe-sucking to macrophilia (the sexual fantasy involving giant people). Despite her financial success, Nate (Jacob Elordi) misses a payment, meaning he gets yet another appendage cut off in brutal fashion. Meanwhile, Jules lands herself in hot water with her sugar daddy. Although he has no clue about her working for the DEA, Magick (Rosalía) convinces Alamo that Rue is involved with the robbery we saw in the last episode. So, he finds her at the diner with Maddy and makes her get in the truck with G (Marshawn Lynch), Kidd (Asante Blackk), and Bishop (Darrell Britt-Gibson). While Alamo gets to know Maddy, the others drive Rue out into the middle of nowhere, make her dig her own grave, and force her to get in. Once she’s buried up to her neck, Alamo comes charging on one of his horses and a polo stick. Just as he takes a swing at her head, the episode ends, leaving many fans convinced Euphoria has just gone and killed off its main character. What’s more, the season three episode six preview dropped this morning, and Rue is notably absent. Yikes. Was Rue killed in Euphoria season 3 episode 5? In short, no, Rue isn’t dead. How do I know this? Because of the Euphoria season three trailer – specifically, trailer two: Yes, Rue isn’t in the next episode’s preview, but if you cut to the 02:18 minute mark on the above, you’ll hear Laurie asking, “What happened to you?” It then cuts to Rue with a broken nose, saying, “Alamo tried to kill me. And he’s going to do the same to you.” So, we can assume in season three episode six that Rue will team up with Laurie (Martha Kelly) – while still working for the DEA on the sly. What’s more, the next episode preview shows Laurie and her team arriving at Alamo’s estate for a tense meeting. “Alamo Brown,” she says. “I hate that things have gotten so contentious between us.” Even without the evidence from the OG trailer, many Euphoria fans weren’t buying the idea of Rue being dead – because why would Levinson kill off the main character midway through the season? Taking to Reddit in response to the preview, one wrote, “Them not showing Rue… like we know she’s alive omg,” while another said, “Sam probably thinks he’s such a genius.” Even though Rue doesn’t die, the same can’t be said for the man Bishop was seen torturing in season three episode five. Who did Bishop kill? Credit: HBO This one’s more of a mystery – it seems like the Scarface-esque scene was more to demonstrate the danger of messing with Alamo and his crew rather than pinpointing a specific character’s death. There are some theories that the man Bishop took a chainsaw to was actually Big Eddy (Kadeem Hardison), who was shot during the robbery in season three episode four. But there’s a bit of an issue with this idea: he doesn’t look like Big Eddy. Others thought it was G, but he’s alive and well by the end of the episode (he helped Alamo handle Rue later on). i’m lowkey confused on who this is that bishop is torturing rn. is that marshawn lynch’s character? is this happening bc he defended big eddy? or is this someone different? i genuinely cannot tell — pooh 𓃺 HYEINHIVE WAS S WORDED (@ughjuuI) May 11, 2026 As said, the far likelier explanation is that the scene wasn’t meant to reveal a major death at all, but to hammer home just how sadistic Alamo’s operation really is.
