Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster has responded to Adam Brody’s recent comments calling for a free Palestine and criticising Israel. Now, she’s facing criticism for her take on the matter. Last month, Brody – who plays Noah Roklov alongside Kristen Bell as Joanne Williams in the Netflix show – spoke with GQ about his political advocacy work. When the topic of Israel-Gaza came up, the actor said it’s something he’s “spoken a lot” about privately, before making his public stance clear. “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago,” he said. “I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.” Credit: Netflix Despite being the lead in her show, Foster has now said she doesn’t agree with him. In an upcoming episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, reported by Entertainment Weekly, she was asked how she feels about Brody’s comments being critical of Israel. “You know, it’s complicated,” Foster replied. “I think our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing.” “While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that’s okay,” she continued. For the uninitiated, Foster converted to Judaism before marrying music executive Simon Tikhman. This is partly what inspired the story behind Nobody Wants This, season 3 of which landed on Netflix this week. Elaborating on this, she explained, “I think that as the creator of the show, all I can say is that I want our Jewish fans to know that I see you and I hear you and I understand how you feel. And the show has always been and always will be a love letter to Judaism. “That is why I made this show. It’s because of how beautiful of an experience I’ve had becoming Jewish and being a Jewish person, and sitting here right now at this time in the world where there is almost zero positive representation of Jewish people, I think it’s so important to have that. “That being said, everyone is entitled to a different opinion than me. I can just tell you what I created this show for, what the intention of the show is.” Foster is now facing criticism for her response, particularly for shifting the conversation towards Jewish identity and representation when Brody’s original comments were about Israel’s actions in Gaza and Palestinian freedom. Someone supporting Palestine does not mean that they are antisemitic. I’m so tired of people conflating the idea of Jewish people and the state of Israel. They are not the same thing — 🕹️ (@tinypickl3s) October 23, 2026 As one person wrote on X, “Weird that Erin Foster would bring up Jewish people when talking about Adam Brody’s support of Palestine. By doing so she is associating all Jewish people with the actions of Israel and the oppression of Palestinians.” Another said, “Someone supporting Palestine does not mean that they are antisemitic. I’m so tired of people conflating the idea of Jewish people and the state of Israel. They are not the same thing.” “How is the genuine beautiful experience of being Jewish has anything to do with what’s being done in Gaza?” asked a third. “If anything, Judaism tells us to do the opposite. This is such a terrible answer.” Featured image credit: David Fisher/Shutterstock/Netflix Post navigation Next story
