Viewers of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be able to watch episode 1 of the new series for free, without needing a Netflix account, so here’s how.

The 10-episode anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, has been released on Netflix today, 20 October. But if you don’t have a subscription and want to get a feel for season 2, you can actually watch the first episode for free.

The new series returns to the world of Cyberpunk 2077, with Japanese animation studio TRIGGER back in charge of production.

Unlike the original series, which followed David Martinez and his crew, Edgerunners 2 tells a standalone story featuring a completely new cast of characters. So, you don’t have to expect a direct continuation of David’s story.

The new anime follows Weak, a former legendary edgerunner who now lives without cyberware, and D, a Nomad driven by revenge. Their stories cross paths in Night City, exploring themes of revenge, redemption, family and legacy.

Kai Ikarashi, who worked on major scenes in the first series, is directing the new instalment. Ichigo Kanno joins as chief character designer, while screenwriters Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are also returning.

So, how do you watch it for free?

CD Projekt Red is holding a special free screening of episode 1 on its official Twitch channel, so you can check it out without paying for a Netflix subscription. Basically, you just need to tune in to the official CD Projekt Red Twitch channel at one of the scheduled times.

The first screening took place at 7.01 am KST on 20 October, but there are two more broadcasts planned. Here’s what the schedule looks like:

Second screening: 7 pm KST / 11 am BST / 6 am ET on 20 October.

Third screening: 4 am KST on 21 October / 8 pm GMT on 20 October / 3 pm ET on 20 October.

Selected streamers will also co-stream the episode, and viewers can receive a special Edgerunners 2 chat badge.

The only catch is that the free screening is limited to episode 1, and there won’t be any video-on-demand replays after the streams end. So, you’ll need to catch one of the broadcasts live if you want to watch it for free.

If you’ve been waiting to return to Night City without committing to a Netflix subscription, this free first-episode screening is worth knowing about. Just make sure you catch it live.
