Is DCU’s Man of Tomorrow trailer releasing next month? James Gunn actually has an update

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has given DCU fans a pretty clear update on when they can expect the first trailer for Man of Tomorrow, and it looks like December is off the table.

The upcoming Superman follow-up has been generating loads of interest, especially after rumours suggested that its first trailer could arrive in mid-December alongside Dune: Part Three. But James Gunn has now stepped in to address those claims, and people might want to hold off on getting too excited.

On October 30, Gunn responded to a Threads post claiming that “The first trailer for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is expected to be released in mid-December and attached to ‘Dune:Part Three’.”

The filmmaker questioned the report, replying, “Expected by whom???”

When another fan accused him of ruining the excitement, writing, “James hating fans being hyped once again,” Gunn clarified his position.

“More like James not wanting people to be disappointed when there’s no trailer in December,” he responded.

So, we’ll most definitely have to wait till next year for the trailer.

So, what do we know about Man of Tomorrow so far?

Although the trailer is still some way off, there is already quite a bit we know about the upcoming DCU film. Man of Tomorrow will continue the story established in Gunn’s 2025 Superman movie. David Corenswet will return as Clark Kent/Superman, while Nicholas Hoult will reprise his role as Lex Luthor.

Interestingly, the two characters will have to put their differences aside and work together to face a much bigger threat: Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.

The returning cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Gunn has already confirmed that filming has wrapped. In August, he shared the news on Threads, writing, “That’s a wrap on principal photography for ‘Man of Tomorrow.’”

He also added, “Truly a joyful experience and I have immense gratitude to my cast and crew.”

The film is currently scheduled to release in cinemas on July 9, 2027.
