Sarah Paulson has been part of American Horror Story for years, playing more than a dozen roles across 10 seasons, and now she has ranked her favourite characters and roasted one season she really did not care for. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the red carpet for American Horror Story: 13 in New York on Wednesday, Paulson was asked to rank her favourite characters from the series. She said, “My number one, all-time favourite character to play is Lana Winters.” It was the investigative journalist she first played in season two, Asylum. She then listed Cordelia from Coven, Tuberculosis Karen from Double Feature, Sally from Hotel, and Bette and Dot from Freak Show. Paulson also mentioned her least favourite, and said, “I don’t, Roanoke is at the end. People get mad at me. I don’t care. Bite me! Bite me hard! I don’t give a sh**. Sorry!” Basically, Paulson was very clear that this was not a season she connected with. “I don’t like it! It’s not for me!” she continued. “I like a lot of things about it, but that one wasn’t for me. I don’t give a s*** about that season. The season used a different format from the earlier instalments. It began as a fictional paranormal documentary called My Roanoke Nightmare, before switching to a found-footage style in its second half. Paulson played Shelby in the first part, and actress Audrey Tindall played Shelby in the documentary in the second part. She also returned as Lana Winters during the season. Ryan Murphy, however, very much does not share Paulson’s view. After Entertainment Tonight posted the interview on Instagram, Murphy commented, “JUSTICE FOR ROANOKE!” He added, “My favourite season, Sarah’s least favourite…but she was so good in it! We’ve had arguments…” And despite Paulson’s feelings about the season, she is back for American Horror Story: 13. The new season also brings back several familiar AHS stars, including Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Jessica Lange.
