Tom Holland says not every film he’s made is worth watching, and these rank the worst

'You shouldn't, because it's sh*t'

Tom Holland has officially said what we’ve all secretly wondered: Not every movie he’s starred in has been a winner.

While promoting his latest projects, the actor admitted there have been times during press tours where he was trying to sell a film he didn’t actually believe in himself.

Speaking on the Dish Podcast, Tom explained why promoting movies he’s genuinely proud of is a completely different experience.

“When you’re doing press for movies you’re really proud of, it’s really easy. Because when they ask you questions about why should people go and watch this movie, you’re not lying to anyone. You really think people should go see it.”

But he then admitted that’s definitely not always been the case: “I’ve had experiences before when people say, ‘Why should you see this movie?’ And in the back of your mind, you’re like, ‘You shouldn’t, because it’s s**t.'”

Thankfully, Tom said promoting his newest films has been a much happier experience.

“It’s felt really like a bit of a victory lap, to be honest. I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m super proud of both of the films.”

Naturally, people immediately started trying to work out which of his older films he was talking about. There are a fair few possibilities, with people regularly naming Chaos Walking and Dolittle as the most likely culprits. Other titles that often get brought into the conversation include Cherry, Spies in Disguise, The Current War, Pilgrimage and Uncharted.

If you go by rankings from WhatCulture, though, some of those guesses make more sense than others. According to the outlet, these are Tom Holland’s lowest-rated films from worst to not so bad: Dolittle, The Current War, Edge of Winter, How I Live Now, In the Heart of the Sea, Pilgrimage, and Locke.

Whether Tom was actually talking about any of those films is anyone’s guess, and he very carefully avoided naming names. Probably for the best, considering there are a lot of directors, castmates and studios who might have something to say about it.

Still, admitting that you’ve spent a press tour convincing people to watch a film you secretly thought was “s**t” is about as brutally honest as celebrity interviews get.
