While Enola Holmes 3 is packed with mystery, action, and long-awaited romance, one “intimate” scene in particular has fans in a chokehold. According to star Millie Bobby Brown, it was inspired by a real-life moment with her husband, Jake Bongiovi. Directed by Philip Barantini, the third film in the series about Sherlock Holmes’ sister landed on Netflix on July 1st, following Enola (Brown) as she travels to Malta to marry Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge). But when Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) is kidnapped just before the ceremony, Enola is forced to put the wedding on hold to solve her most personal case yet. Amid the chaos, midway through the film, Enola and Tewkesbury take a walk along the coast and have a heart-to-heart. Enola spots a bathing cabin and the pair decide to take a dip. As they prepare, Tewkesbury tenderly braids her hair. @_mina0202 the fact that Tewksbury braids her hair with such gentleness, and the braid itself is a symbol of femininity and bond 🥹 #enolaholmes #enolaholmes3 #fyp ♬ original sound – Mina☆ Head to TikTok and you’ll find multiple videos of this moment, with one writing, “I love how intimate this scene is.” Another said, “So intimate yet so respectful.” A third added, “The TENSION.” As it turns out, this was all Millie’s own idea – and it came from her husband. Speaking to Netflix, she said, “It was a pitch I made to [writer] Jack Thorne, and I’m very thankful he liked it. “One of the many reasons I love my husband, [Enola Holmes 3 executive producer] Jake [Bongiovi], is that he braids my hair before I go to bed. It’s kind of the most romantic, intimate thing a man can do.” A lot of care went into preparing this scene, as revealed by Louis Partridge, who was given a tutorial from the hair and makeup team. “I must be a fast learner because I picked it up pretty quickly,” he said. “You’ve got to separate it out into three strands and then bring the right side into the middle, crossing over the center one, then bring the left side over into the middle, center, and just repeat. It’s so satisfying.” Louis added, “It really serves as a way for them to come together in the privacy of these four small walls. They remember why they love each other. They remember that they’re each other’s best friend.” Credit: Netflix Team lead Sian Wilson went on to praise the actor, saying, “He was so careful. It worked for the character because Tewkesbury would have been so gentle and quite tentative… Louis was an honorary hair and makeup artist for the day.” As well as the fans, it’s gone down well with the director of photography, Matthew Lewis, who told Netflix’s Tudum, “I felt like I was able to be a part of that special moment. It was very emotionally vulnerable. “You don’t often get that kind of access with actors – sometimes they can feel a bit guarded – but it was a very vulnerable space. I hope that feeling of intimacy really comes across.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
