This dark Obsession s*x scene script proves Bear is the true villain of the story

There’s been a lot of chat over whether Bear is the true villain of Obsession, but this leaked early version of the sex scene puts the debate to rest.

The horror movie Obsession has been skyrocketing in popularity ever since it came out. It follows Bear, a normal but extremely shy guy who has a crush on his coworker Nikki, and makes a wish for her to love him “more than anybody else in the entire f*cking world”.  Things quickly go wrong as she becomes possessed by this wish, doing everything from making a sandwich out of his dead cat to eventually killing multiple people.

However, Obsession is deeper than that. In one scene, it’s revealed that the real Nicki is submerged deep within her subconscious, as she tries to talk to Bear while “wish Nicki” sleeps. This shifts the film’s tone, revealing that the “real” Nicki is submerged in her own body while witnessing and experiencing everything. It makes the sex scene so much more uncomfortable, but a viral screenshot of the early script makes it even worse.

The script shows Nikki kissing Bear before snapping out of the wish and screaming, pushing herself away from him. She then snaps back into the wish.

It says: “Bear remains unfazed, his eerie calm demeanour chilling. Within moments, she’s back, kissing his stomach. The disturbance registers as nothing more than a fleeting inconvenience to him.”

This more explicitly states that Bear is fully aware that the “wish” Nikki isn’t the real Nikki he supposedly loves, yet he chooses to ignore it just so he can live out his fantasy.

“Some people focus so much on defending Bear that they completely overlook what Nikki was experiencing in that moment,” one person in the replies said.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Curry Barker confirmed that he turned down large sums of money from production companies that wanted him to make Bear explicitly a hero. It’s clear that all along, Bear was meant to be the true villain.
