I think it’s reasonable to say that quite a few people were not satisfied with the ending of The Boys, with some even comparing it to the car crash called Game of Thrones. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why the final season of The Boys fell short, largely because everyone seems to have a different gripe with the showrunners. Was it sloppy writing and poorly written powers? Cringe attempts at comedy that fell flat? The fact that a large majority of the main stars made it out alive? There are about a million reasons, and no one can seem to agree. IMDb rated the final two episodes the lowest in the show’s history. why tf am I watching this play out on my screen😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 https://t.co/cg6Mei9kuj — ِ (@agathasbike) May 20, 2026 “In fact, watching the fifth and final season of The Boys felt tantamount to witnessing a comedian you once liked bomb their set… for eight hours,” Gizmodo wrote in its review. Den of Geek similarly said: “I just spent hours of my life yelling ‘oh come on’ at every hackneyed plot point, convenience, line of dialogue, and Vought Rising breadcrumb thrown my way. And although it’s a decent hour of television, there’s a lot of restraint at work that feels like exhaustion behind the scenes. The razor-sharp era of The Boys has been in our rearview for a while, and there’s none of the show’s admirable viciousness at work here to surprise anyone as this five-season-long story wraps up.” Things aren’t much better on social media, but how about the actual cast of the show? What do The Boys’ own stars think of the ending? Get ready for PR responses to end all PR responses. First up was Erin Moriarty, who admitted she was “selfishly satisfied” with Starlight’s ending. Now, after watching the episode, she had to be towing the company line, right? Starlight’s part in the finale was a major talking point yesterday, and no one was happy about it. Tomer Capone, who played Frenchie, said: “I am [satisfied]. I think we gave you guys one hell of a ride.” Similarly, MM’s actor had a more nuanced answer to the question, pointing out that they could end the show on their own terms, and not through cancellation. I think they did a good job of tying up all the loose ends.” Sister Sage’s actress went as far as to say she was “grateful” for how the show turned out, stating that her suggestions were heard, considered, and applied. The only star to not be satisfied with The Boys’ ending was Jensen Ackles, who played Soldier Boy. He wanted more story, a season six, a season seven, AND a season eight. “Listen, you’re talking to a guy who did 15 seasons of a show,” he said, referencing Supernatural. Though The Hollywood Reporter dropped the video yesterday, it’s important to bear in mind that it was filmed before the finale came out. The cast was not going to sh*t on their own show, potentially pushing away viewers, but their responses reeked of a PR department. Sister Sage and Starlight were butchered this season, so I wonder if the cast feels differently now after watching the conclusion like the rest of us.
