Trigger warning: This article contains references to sexual abuse allegations and suicide One of the most uncomfortable moments during The Roast of Kevin Hart came when host Shane Gillis brought up Chelsea Handler’s past dinner with Jeffrey Epstein. And that’s saying something, as there were a lot of uncomfortable moments throughout the nearly-three-hour live event, which aired on Netflix last night. Pete Davidson brought up his old beef with Kanye while roasting Tony Hinchcliffe, who in turn joked about Davidson’s father who died during 9/11, before taking shots at Sheryl Underwood’s late husband’s suicide. Amid the many risqué bits, Shane Gillis took shots at Chelsea before her session, and he did not hold back. While discussing abortions, Shane said, “Chelsea’s been scraped more times than the grill at Benihana.” He then continued, “Speaking of tossing tiny shrimp into a child’s mouth, Chelsea Handler went to dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s house in 2010. 🇺🇸🇵🇸 Shane Gillis at the Netflix Roast of Kevin Hart calls out Chelsea Handler for being a ZIonist Epstein associate: "Chelsea is a Zionist.. speaking of dead kids, she's a big fan of abortions. You can look it up, there’s articles. It wasn’t like a big party, there was like seven people there. It was like Prince Andrew and Woody Allen.” Did Chelsea Handler really have lunch with Jeffrey Epstein? Yes, Chelsea did have dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s New York mansion in 2010, as this was previously confirmed by the host herself. So by 2010 – when the dinner happened – he was already a convicted sex offender. However, Chelsea said she didn’t know who he was at the time. In a conversation with Rolling Stone in 2023, she confirmed that Allen – who has faced allegations of child sexual abuse but was never convicted – and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were guests. According to her account, the dinner was organised through journalist Katie Couric and publicist Peggy Siegal, and she described Epstein’s Manhattan mansion as the “biggest house” she had ever been in. “I don’t remember what year it was, but it was before I knew any of the bad stuff about Jeffrey Epstein, though apparently he had been caught earlier,” she said. Chelsea went on to say that she recognised the former Prince Andrew and “this other guy that got cancelled… Charlie Rose.” Rose is a former TV journalist who was fired by CBS and PBS in 2017 following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, many of which he denied. I might be forgetting a few people. It was a pretty ridiculous night,” Chelsea added. “All I remember is thinking to myself, ‘I can’t be here!’ Forget about Jeffrey Epstein – I didn’t even know who he was – I was thinking I couldn’t be there because of Woody Allen. “I can’t control my outbursts. This was pre-therapy, so who knew what was going to come out of my mouth. Even I didn’t. I was sitting there and getting so mad on behalf of all women. I was like, ‘I can’t be here, as a woman, and not say something to [Allen].’ “I just waited and waited and waited until there was an appropriate time, because I knew I had to. There was no way I was leaving there without doing something.” After a while, she claimed that she leaned in and asked how Allen and Soon-Yi met, to which he allegedly laughed. And then Katie Couric was like, ‘OK Chelsea, time to go!’ And that was my only experience at Jeffrey Epstein’s house! I’ve never been on his plane, or a flight, or anything like that, so everyone can just shut up about that already.” The year prior, Chelsea addressed the controversy on Jimmy Kimmel’s chat show, where she said, “I’m stating it here for the final time: I have never been to Epstein island,” before retelling the same interaction she had with Allen at the dinner.
