After Wicked smashed the box office and changed the course of everyone’s lives, it’s no surprise it’s going to make history at the Golden Globes. Wicked has been nominated for four Golden Globes so far, but people are furious after finding out a major snub in one of the biggest award categories.

What category was Wicked snubbed from?

Wicked had a terrible Golden Globes snub in the directing and writing department. Legendary director Jon Chu was not nominated for any of the directing awards, which actually should be illegal.

Wicked was also not eligible for any of the music categories given that the film only used songs from the original musical, which feels SO wrong. Defying Gravity needs a Golden Globe, a Grammy, the whole works.

On the bright side, maybe things will look up for Wicked: Part Two. Jon Chu recently said part two will feature two new songs. He said he couldn’t disclose anything about the songs just yet, but noted that they were “fantastic.”

What Golden Globes was Wicked nominated for?

The film’s stars Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, and Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda, both got acting nominations in the best performance by a female actor in a musical or comedy and best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture. WHO is surprised? I’d be shocked if they didn’t get nominated. And I’ll be just as shocked if they don’t win.

Wicked also earned a cinematic and box office achievement nomination, so it’s obviously sweeping the floor with noms so far. Why oh why would Jon Chu be snubbed like this, when he clearly made so much of this amazing film happen?! They better get a redemption arc in Wicked: Part Two or I’m going to be storming in on a flying monkey myself.
