Google has revealed the most popular Halloween costumes of 2025, and they’re criminally online
God, people are confident this year
We are fast approaching Halloween, and while there will be the usual lads who don a white t-shirt with blood on it, others will draw inspiration from pop culture for their 2025 spooky season costumes.
Gone are the days when a white bedsheet over your head would have sufficed, because now Halloween is basically a competition. In spooky seasons since passed, we’ve had the likes of Barbie, Harley Quinn, and St Trinians go from iconic to cliché, so these pop-culture-inspired getups really do have a shelf life on them.
2025 might be the only year to take advantage of these viral moments, so get in on it – if you can!
Glinda is super easy to do

Okay, so this is one of the more realistic Halloween costumes of 2025. All you need is a pretty pink dress, a blonde wig, and a sceptre. That being said, while the look is easy enough to pull off, Glinda’s physicality is part of her charm.
Work on your “toss toss” people!
Toothless is great, if you’re a dragon

We’re talking about the dragon, right?
Unless you’ve got some serious money in the bank, I’m not sure how you’re going to pull this one off. Some black paint or a onsie from Primark is just not going to cut it.
Modern twist on an absolute classic

Now this one is actually quite fun. Inspired by the legendary video games, this Halloween costume takes the cliché and gives it a modern twist. Most people will think you’re just a zombie nurse, but the real ones will know.
Be Nightwing, if you dare

While I don’t doubt the popularity of the hottest man in comics, Nightwing is famously uncastable in Hollywood. If James Gunn is struggling to find his Nightwing for the DCEU, I’m sorry to say that Jake from Milton Keynes’ take is just not going to work. You’re setting yourself up for failure because even seasoned cosplayers can’t pull off Dick Grayson’s supernatural magnetism.
Also, you need to be particularly gifted in the rear-view mirror. If you ain’t got his signature junk in the trunk, move along.
Hamilton is still trending

2015 called and it wants its Halloween costume back.
Easy enough to do, but Hamilton has become the new Harley Quinn. If you want to shake things up, there’s plenty of inspiration to be drawn from modern American politics: RJK Jr’s voice is like something from a horror film, JD Vance is essentially a demonic man baby, and Melania Trump’s clone doesn’t get enough attention.
Who doesn’t want to be the Lorax?

I might have seen it on TikTok dozens of times, but I never grow tired of a Dr Seuss-inspired lewk. But if you’re going to do this one, I want the full package: An orange morph suit, a HUGE moustache, and body paint for your uncovered areas.
Obviously, Elphaba costumes are hugely popular for 2025 Halloween

You’re going to spend a fortune on green body paint, but if you can do this one correctly, the outcome will defy gravity – do you see what I did there?
Derpy is cute, but impractical

The first of a long line of KPop Demon Hunters costumes, Derpy is the demonic cat with a Cheshire-cat-style grin. Some face painting and contact lenses are about all you need, but trying to find clothing in his signature patterned blue coat might be difficult.
Labubus were always going to be on the list

I knew this one was coming, but after people used prosthetics for the look on TikTok, I’m not sure anything else is going to measure up. That being said, there will, without a doubt, be hordes of Labubus roaming the streets come October 31.
Chicken Jockey could be a good shout

Credit: Warner Bros
One of the easiest Halloween costumes of 2025 to pull off, Chicken Jockeys are the unholy union of a baby zombie and a chicken in the Minecraft video game. We’ve been successfully pulling off zombies since we were kids, and then all you really need is a giant chicken to ride around on.
Points for practicality, too, because you could totally stash snacks and shots in your chicken to smuggle past the bouncer.
Baby Saja is from KPop Demon Hunters

If you’re not a fan of KPop Demon Hunters – which is a massive red flag in 2025 – you’re proboably not going to enjoy the most popular Halloween costumes of the year.
Baby Saja was one of the demon boys making up the Saja Boys, and whether you do his human or demon persona, it’s minimal work for maximum payoff. In fact, I’m 90 per cent sure that SHEIN is already selling direct replicas.
Jinu is trending, but you need the face card

Jinu became the animated heartthrob of the year in KPop Demon Hunters, but similar to Nightwing, I just doubt any real people have this much aura.
Get ready to dye your brows for Mira

Credit: Netflix
Shocker, more KPop Demon Hunters.
With long pink hair and legs for days, Mira is the tough nut of Huntrix. She’s the quintessential bad girl, so you’ve got to have the energy to pull it off.
Zoey is definitely easier

Credit: Netflix
Rapstress Zoey is the second most popular Halloween costume of 2025, according to Google. She’s proboably a little easier to pull off, given she’s not got bright pink hair and matching eyebrows.
Rumi is the most popular Halloween costume of 2025

Credit: Netflix
You all saw this coming, but the most popular spooky costume of this year is KPop Demon Hunters’ main bad B, Rumi. Unlike the other Huntrix members, who are fully human, I’m betting that the most popular Halloween costume will be Rumi’s demon form. But be warned: If you don’t do this correctly, you’ll look less like a glam demon and more like a three-year-old has drawn on you.
