Pedro Pascal hit with ‘smear campaign’ after deepfake of him kissing Vanessa Kirby goes viral

It’s yet ANOTHER bizarre bit of Fantastic Four press tour drama

Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby got attacked by, frankly, weirdos who completely misunderstood their friendship during the Fantastic Four press tour. The pair are super close friends, and Pedro Pascal has openly talked about how they use physical touch to quash their anxiety when doing press and being photographed and videoed on the world stage. But things haven’t been helped by a deepfake video going viral that many believed to be true which shows Pedro Pascal kissing Vanessa Kirby and making her uncomfortable. But it isn’t real! Just bizarre.

The deepfake has been widely circulated

I am not reposting the viral video edit of all the deepfake edits which sees Pedro Pascal try to kiss Vanessa Kirby three different times and a journalist in another – because it’s already had enough views – but you can see in the following screenshots how bad it is.

One shows him pull in to kiss her on the cheek.

The other is this edit, as well as another where she’s in a black dress.

The replies are ridiculous, with people talking about his “anxiety game” when he’s been open about their closeness and it’s totally platonic and mutual.

Here’s the original clip which one of the deepfake edits has distorted:

Here’s what Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby have ACTUALLY said about each other

Pedro Pascal has been open about how close they are, saying of Vanessa “I think that we really, really see each other in ourselves in terms of our care for what we do, our care for one another, and our mutual fears, our mutual expectations. We can be kind of hard on ourselves, and I just think that we’re very, very similar.”

Pedro Pascal has revealed the reason he has been so physically close with Vanessa Kirby during Fantastic Four press is because the pair of them like to remind each other that they’re there for each other because they find the red carpet photo ops overwhelming. He says “We are always grabbing onto one another to remind each other that we’re not alone in any of it.”

Pedro has previously told Men’s Health that he gets bad anxiety, and “When it started to feel so critical, I had to go back to what was always the comfort for me in life, which was engagement in my relationships, my friendships, and conversation and shared experience.”

Vanessa Kirby has also said of their bond and the reaction to how close they are physicallyWhat happened is we were both incredibly nervous going out in front of thousands of people who love this comic. He wanted me to know that we were in this together, and I found it a lovely gesture and was very glad to squeeze his hand back.”

The deepfake edit of Pedro Pascal is just adding to a harmful and baseless narrative about Vanessa Kirby on the Fantastic Four that some idiots on Twitter just can’t seem to get their head around. Brutally put perhaps, but completely true.
