Does Lilo & Stitch have a post-credit scene? Here’s what actually happens

There is a little surprise

| UPDATED

With Disney’s Lilo & Stitch finally hitting cinemas, everyone is wondering if the new live-action remake includes a post-credit scene. Well, it’s Disney, after all. It does love slipping in one last surprise. So, if you left as soon as the credits started, you might’ve missed something.

So, here is everything you need to know about the Lilo & Stitch post-credit scene.

Is there a big post-credit scene?

Well, there isn’t a full-on, proper, Marvel-style post-credit scene. The film ends in a lovely way. Lilo, Nani, and Stitch are happy. The family’s together. The chaos is (mostly) over. If you’ve seen the old animated version, it ends in a very similar way. Just a few changes here and there.

So if you’re waiting for something big after the credits, there isn’t one. But…

Well, is there a mid-credit scene?

Yes. Halfway through the credits, there’s a quiet little moment that’s easy to miss. Nani comes to visit Lilo and Stitch, who are staying with their neighbour Tūtū while Nani’s off at college. The three of them snuggle into bed together. Lilo and Nani say, “Good night, sister,” and Stitch joins in with his own jumbled version, “Good night, sisters.”

It’s short and sweet, and if you’ve been paying attention, it links back to a scene earlier in the film when they’re looking up at the stars on the ceiling. Nothing dramatic, but it’s cute and kind of emotional.

So, what is the little surprise?

Okay, so, there is a montage of pictures and they’re adorable. You see what the gang gets up to after the film ends. Lilo and Nani rebuild their home. Agent Bubbles and Pleakley are around, looking like part of the family. Stitch wears his little Elvis outfit (classic). And yes, Nani and David are definitely a couple now. There’s even a kiss to prove it. So cute!

The final shot is a beach photo of the whole gang. It’s pure feel-good stuff.

But the ending leaves things open without spelling it out. There’s nothing hidden about aliens or the Galactic Federation. No new villain popping up. No cliffhanger. And that’s actually kind of nice. It gives the story a proper ending, but still leaves space for more, just in case Disney wants to do a sequel later. For now though, what you see is what you get.

So, should you stay or go?

Well, you don’t necessarily need to stay for a post-credit scene because there isn’t one.

BUT if you fancy a lovely little scene and a bunch of wholesome pictures, it’s worth hanging around for a bit. If not, no stress, you’re not missing anything major.
