Amber Heard just welcomed twins, so here’s everything we know about the secretive birth

In a triumphant Instagram post on Mother’s Day, Amber Heard introduced the world to her new twins, Agnes and Ocean, thereby completing her “dream family” alongside Oonagh Paige, now four.

In 2022, after a highly publicised trial against the man I refuse to write in this heartwarming article about Amber Heard’s family, she ditched Hollywood and moved to Spain for a “fresh start” with Oonagh, who was just two at the time. She’s kept relatively off the radar ever since, besides a few reports about her eyeing an acting comeback.

That all changed on Sunday when she announced the birth of her twins to the world – here’s what we know.

The pregnancy was announced last year

Back in December, Amber Heard’s rep told PEOPLE that she was expecting her second baby, though at the time, we weren’t clued into it being twins.

“It is still quite early in the pregnancy, so you will appreciate that we do not want to go into much detail at this stage. Suffice to say that Amber is delighted both for herself and Oonagh Paige,” they said.

The news came three years after Oonagh’s birth, with Amber herself detailing why she decided to have kids as a single mother.

“I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way,” she wrote on Instagram. “I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalised to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”

Sharing a picture of four tiny feet on Instagram, Amber Heard announced the birth of the twins to the world with a lengthy statement about what a “humbling experience” it was.

She wrote: “Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget. This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years. Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang. My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.

“When I had my first baby girl, Oonagh, four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!! Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life.

“I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully. To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you. Love always, A x.”

She did not turn comments back on for the post.

Who is the father of Amber Heard’s kids?

It has not yet been revealed who the father of Amber Heard’s twins is, but already, conspiracy theories are popping up online about her using frozen embryos she had stored with Elon Musk.

“Interesting. Reportedly, Amber Heard and Elon Musk created embryos together during their relationship, then had a legal dispute over the rights after their breakup. Heard wished to keep them to have a child. So, @elonmusk could well be the father of her children,” one person said.

Thankfully, someone else responded, “Why does it matter so much to people who the father is of Amber Heard’s babies? She CLEARLY states she became a mom on her own terms. None of you actually like her, y’all just want to connect her to Elon Musk still. STOP IT FFS. ENOUGH!”

Though Amber is yet to comment on the father of her kids, she did have Oonagh via surrogacy in 2021, and back in April, she was sipping on champagne for her birthday.

What do the names of Amber Heard’s babies mean?

Oonagh is undoubtedly an odd name, which means lamb in old Irish, but Amber Heard opted for slightly more normal names for the twins, Agnes and Ocean. Ocean is obviously a reference to the sea, coming from the Greek word okeanos, but I’m going to take it as a reference to her role in Aquaman.

Meanwhile, Agnes comes from the Greek Hagnḗ, meaning pure or holy.
