Interruptions to bitter jabs: Oscars insider shares all the juicy details we didn’t get to see
Oh to be a fly on that wall
Someone who was lucky enough to attend the Oscars has revealed all the juicy details we didn’t get to see on camera and honestly, I’m lowkey quite jealous!
The Oscars are THE awards show that brings together just about every A-lister from across Hollywood. There are always juicy details, a dash of gossip, and some body language analysis, but there are also interesting moments that we don’t get to see in the broadcast.
Shedding light on said moments in an article for HELLO, Los Angeles correspondent Rebecca Lewis dished on moments ranging from shock interruptions to impassioned speeches. Take a look.
Emilia Pérez’s director got a little bitter

Somehow, Emilia Pérez won even more awards at the Oscars but its director Jacques Audiard did not pay tribute to the trans community during the evening. When a journalist questioned why he didn’t take a moment to talk about the “anti-trans political attacks” prevalent in the US right now, he responded: “Since I didn’t win best film or director I had no opportunity to speak, but if I had that opportunity I would have spoken up.”
Just take the win, Jacques.
Kieran Culkin joked with the journalists
When journalists are given the chance to ask winners some questions they are numbered to save time and make it run more smoothly. After winning Best Supporting Actor Kieran joked he was now calling “number two thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.”
Zoe Saldaña apologised to Mexico

Emilia Pérez has been the most controversial film in 2025’s awards season, and though she didn’t speak to the trans representation, Zoe Saldaña did apologise to Mexico when a journalist said the film had caused offence.

“I’m very, very sorry that many Mexicans felt offended. That was never our intention. We spoke from a place of love,” she said.

During an ad break about halfway through the evening, Colman Domingo took to the stage and gave a speech about the recent Los Angeles wildfires.
“This is for our city. We all fell in love with it a little bit more lately,” he said in a moment that has since been shared on Twitter.
We got a juicy detail about Wicked
Wicked: For Good is still months away but the film’s set designers Nathan Crawley and Lee Sandales did share some tidbits on how the yellow brick road was built using 10,000 bricks.
“But you get to experience Kiamo Ko and that’s all I’m going to say,” Nathan said, with Kiamo Ko being the home of Jonathan Bailey’s Prince Fiyero.
There was so much food!
This is the Oscars we’re talking about so it’s not surprising they weren’t serving Maccies and Burger King to Hollywood’s most established personalities. According to HELLO, they served bread, cheeses, dips, sandwiches, pasta, empanadas, spring rolls, and the “most delicious cookies.”
Emilia Pérez’s crew praised Selena Gomez

Camille and Clement Ducol, the minds behind Emilia Pérez’s *unique* songs, praised working with Selena Gomez as they branded her a “great icon” to the press.
“Selena is a great icon, but the song we wrote for her, especially Mi Camino, was for her as a woman and she inspired us a lot,” Camille said. “She worked with a lot of humility, but I felt in the studio she was acting and serving her character, and very open to direction.”
She also celebrated Zoe Saldaña, stating: “Zoe was a perfectionist, she is very precise, and so she was not in her comfort zone and she kept telling me she is not a singer, and I kept telling her, ‘Yes you are,’ and she proved so.”
There were some minor errors
Rebecca Lewis also revealed a small but hilarious error during the Oscars. The journalists were expecting to interview the winners of Best Documentary only to find the winners of Best Visual Effects walking out instead. They reportedly had to introduce themselves – awkward!
Sean Baker called for the decriminalization of sex workers

“I’ve been pretty outspoken about my stance on sex work. It’s our oldest profession, yet it has an incredible, unfair stigma applied to it,” he told the press after winning four Oscars for Anora.
“And what I’ve been trying to do with my films is sort of chip away at that very unfair stigma. Personally, I think it should be decriminalized, and I guess through my work, through hopefully humanizing my characters that are usually seen as caricatures in most film and television, it will help do that.”
More awkwardness in the press room
When he was being interviewed about his work on The Brutalist, cinematographer Lol Crawley was interrupted by gasps and applause when Mikey Madison won best actress.
He took the L and reportedly joked: “Thank you, good night.”
