Debunked: Did Adam Sandler actually storm out of the Oscars after being the butt of the joke?
He also gave a big kiss to Timothée Chalamet
There’s a video going viral of Adam Sandler, in typical Adam Sandler style, storming right out of the Oscars last night after being the brunt of a joke at his expense. With all the drama going on with the Oscars 2025, it’s a near impossible task to keep up with what was actually part of the drama and what was a timely and well rehearsed skit. You’ve probably seen the video by this point of a hoodie wearing Adam Sandler dramatically exiting the Oscars 2025 after host Conan O’Brien ripped into him – but here’s the full explanation debunked of what was actually going down.

During the show, the camera flicked to Adam Sandler who was sat in the audience wearing the kind of outfit most of us would sit in to devour a Dominos in record timing in the hopes that we should never be perceived by a human being whilst doing so. I am of course talking about a scruffy blue hoodie and basketball shorts – hardly going toe to toe with the tuxedos and gowns that are mostly associated with the night.
“I don’t care about what I wear or what I don’t wear. If my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers, I’m going,” Sandler said. On his way out Conan, and the other audience members begged him to stay but that was it, he was going. No stopping him. In his very comfy hoodie and shorts!

But not before he did one last thing: Went right over to Timmy and shouted “Chalamet!” and then planted a big kiss on his forehead and gave the Complete Unknown actor a hug. It was classic Oscars drama, but did Adam Sandler actually storm out?
It was all a silly little skit
If you couldn’t sense from the jovial vibes of the clip itself, the entire thing was planned and a skit. There was no real drama, but both Conan and Sandler committed to the bit and it did make good telly. Fair play.
