The fun isn’t over yet – all the songs you can expect in Wicked: Part Two

Definitely a better tracklist than Part One

Though the choice to split Wicked into two parts has been controversial to say the least, it does mean there’s a whole bank of songs we can learn the lyrics to before Part Two comes out this time next year.

Wicked Part One brought record-breaking melodies from the stage show like Defying Gravity, No One Mourns The Wicked, Dancing Through Life, and Popular. Though all were received well, some are clearly more popular than others.

Wicked Part Two will have even more songs

Wicked Part Two will be released on November 21 2025, basically an entire 365 days since Part One – not that I’m counting or anything.

Though director Jon Chu might take some creative liberty in the sequel, we should see the ramifications of Elphaba’s actions, Glinda being torn between friendship and ambition, Dorothy coming to Oz, and Elphaba’s relationship with Fiyero.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Again, should the director follow the structure of the original musical, we can expect Wicked Part Two to open with Glinda, Madame Morrible, and the citizens of Oz performing Thank Goodness, a song that serves to illustrate the battle raging in Glinda’s mind.

Following that, Elphaba, Nessarose and Boq will sing The Wicked Witch of the East which sees Nessarose being magically gifted the ability to walk. When Boq then tries to leave her, Nessarose messes up a spell and removes his heart. After Elphaba turns Boq into the Tin Man to save his life, we should expect to see her perform Wonderful with the Wizard himself.

Next up is a reprisal of Elphaba’s Part One song I’m Not That Girl – this time sung by Glinda – followed by a deceleration of love between Fiyero and Elphaba with As Long As You’re Mine. I might be biased, but No Good Deed is undoubtedly a banger and will follow soon after As Long As You’re Mine as Elphaba attempts to save Fiyero’s life.

As the film comes to a climactic conclusion, prepare to be whisked through just about every emotion as the cast sings March of the Witch Hunters, For Good, and the Finale.

There will be original songs in Part Two

In a move that could go brilliantly or tank the film completely, Wicked Part Two will also feature two completely original songs not found in the original stage musical.

“The storytelling required it, and therefore they were created — the intention was that they were organic and not imposed on the movie,” Jon Chu told The Messenger. “There’s new stuff that I think the fans will enjoy. But our hope and intention is that the people to whom the story and the show are important will not in any way be disappointed, but will be thrilled by what they will see and the new stuff that’s been added and the way film is used.”

Besides confirmation of their existence, we know little to nothing about the contents of the songs or even what they are about.

Here’s to hoping it’s a coming-out moment between Glinda and Elphaba.
