An insanely long list of times Ariana Grande sang a Wicked song before starring as Glinda
Did she manifest it?
It’s safe to say Ariana Grande was born to play Glinda from Wicked, and it’s been her dream for years and years. Since she found out a Wicked film was being made in 2019, she was already in vocal lessons getting re-trained at a Broadway standard. It’s no secret what a fan she is, but you may not have realised just how deep her love for the iconic musical goes. Here’s a very long list of every time Ariana Grande sang a Wicked song before being cast as Glinda – and you never know, she may just have manifested it for herself.
2007 – Defying Gravity
The original video seems to have been taken down, but Ariana sang a cover of Defying Gravity in 2007 which is actually just insane levels of talent. She would have been 14 years old when singing the song which is widely considered one of the hardest musical theatre songs known to man. She was born for it!
2008 – The Wizard and I
A squeaky but powerful 15 year old Ariana belted out The Wizard and I, another vocally challenging song from the musical. The foreshadowing is CRAZY.
She also sang it again the same year – but this time she was green!
2009 – As Long As You’re Mine
In a slightly controversial performance, Ariana Grande sang As Long As You’re Mine with Miranda Sings. You can tell she’s always loved this musical so much.
2010 – Popular
If you can make it through this long video, Ariana and her Victorious co-star Elizabeth Gillies were messing around on YouTube and recorded themselves singing Popular, which would go on to be her most iconic performance as Glinda.
