BREAKING: ‘Isolated domestic’ shooting on East Green Street, Champaign
‘Tonnes’ of police cars were dispatched
There has been an isolated shooting at 101 East Green Street this evening, according to an Illini Alert.
Just after 10pm this evening, students at UIUC were send an alert informing them of a shooting in Champaign. According to the Champaign Police Department, the shooting happened at around 9.50pm.
Speaking to The Tab, a representative of the Champaign Police Department said it was an isolated domestic incident. They also said Ambulances were dispatched, and “tonnes” of police cars were rushed to the scene, although it is not known if anyone was injured.
The police were on high alert due to the Cubs game celebrations, although it is being treated as unrelated.
The shooting was on the same block as Super Pantry and Maize.
