We asked Georgetown students what song best describes them

I hate college but love all the parties

Georgetown students can easily be characterised. We all know the obvious jokes: preppy, Washington-bound, and a little dull.

But which song would you characterised Hoyas as? Are they more “Talk dirty to me” or “I love College”?

We asked students to find out:

Perby Señal, Sophomore, College, Kai Yoshinaga, Sophomore, NHS, and Henry Horita, Sophomore, NHS

“”Under Pressure”. Queen. Just ‘cause I feel like there’s a stress culture, sometimes.”

“”Here”, by Alessia Cara, because all the parties are ratchet as fuck.”

“”White Iverson” by Post Malone.”

Chloe Diggs, Sophomore, College

“Georgetown students as a whole? If you look at Georgetown — what you usually see is white people. Then, all you hear is “Mr. Brightside”…When I hear “Mr. Brightside”, that’s all I think of — Georgetown. And why? It’s basic, just like Georgetown. No offense. Love you, Hoya Saxa and shit”

Shalaya Lopez, Sophomore, NHS

“I like to think of “Stacy’s Mom” because everybody’s parents are like — they got shit goin’ on, doing big things. They got their lives together.”

Selah Shackelford, Sophomore, College

“When I think of black Georgetown, a song that comes to mind is “Back That Ass Up” by Juvenile.  ‘Cause it plays at every party, I guess. I can’t think of one to generalize Georgetown but I’d say…”Mr. Brightside” for white Georgetown and “Back That Ass Up” for black Georgetown. Or anything Future.”

Katerina Falkner, Junior, MSB, and Sofia Carratala, Sophomore, SFS

“There’s like 12 running through my head, I’m gonna go with the new Justin Timberlake song, “Can’t Stop The Feeling”, because I feel like even though we have a really professional atmosphere, everyone is very much about having fun. And by that, I don’t just mean partying — a lot of people like to have a good time and explore DC. It’s really fast paced and that’s how the campus moves, so the song kind of incorporates every aspect of Georgetown, in my opinion.”

“The song that I think describes Georgetown students well is “Uptown Funk”. ‘Cause it’s like upbeat, it’s original. People are really creative here, and just like generally very happy people.”
