Here’s the utterly grim reality about the insane facelift all the celebs are getting
Kris Jenner is basically the poster child for the procedure at this point
Ok, so being in the public eye is no walk in the park for a lot of famous faces. Many celebrities are up for a little nip and tuck here and there to wind the clock back and stay looking super youthful. But these days, it’s “move over Botox,” because there is a plethora of options when it comes to cosmetic surgery. They’re calling it the most effective facelift money can buy – and Hollywood’s elite can’t seem to get enough.
From Kris Jenner to Marc Jacobs, a growing number of celebrities are rumoured to be turning to the deep plane facelift. It’s a surgical technique so intense, it’s practically a facial reboot! But while the results are undeniably snatched, the truth behind the trending procedure is far from glamorous. Between six-figure price tags, weeks of brutal swelling, and risks that go well beyond bruising, here’s the brutal reality behind the surgery everyone in the spotlight is secretly booking.
Kris Jenner debuts the deep plane facelift
If there’s one standout moment for Kris Jenner in 2025, it’s got to be when she was papped in Paris with a whole new look.
And, we’re not talking a new bob, bangs, or a chic outfit. Mama Kris literally came through and broke the internet with a brand new face.
After a lot of speculation and online buzz about her wrinkle-free appearance, the doctor who completed her surgery publicly spoke about it. And it was revealed she’d opted for a deep plane facelift.
Now, it turns out it’s not just Kris who’s opting for the intense surgery, but loads of other celebrities are, too.
Kris is getting mistaken for her daughter, twenty years her junior. And the deep plane rumours kinda make sense for the likes of these super youthful-looking celebrities, too.
Caroline Stanbury, Sonja Morgan, Marc Jacobs, and, reportedly, Lindsay Lohan have opted for the surgery. And, icons like Cher, Sharon Osbourne, and Jane Fonda have spoken publicly about getting facelifts in general.
Unveiling the grim reality of the facelift
There’s no denying that Kris, Caroline, Marc and co are all looking incredibly fresh after their cosmetic tweak.
But, the reality of getting a deep plane facelift is actually brutal.
Not only did Kris’ procedure cost around $100,000, but there’s apparently a seriously long road to recovery and healing afterwards.
The reason why the deep plane facelift is so intense has a lot to do with its name. The surgeon has to go deeper than a regular facelift.
“A deep plane facelift works with deeper layers of tissue than a typical facelift, also known as a superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) facelift. The SMAS is a thin, fibrous layer that divides the face’s deep and superficial layers of adipose tissue (or fat cells),” reports The Guardian.
Speaking with Dr Justin Cohen, they revealed:
“With a traditional facelift, the skin is lifted away from the underlying SMAS layer and tightened separately from it…”
But, “a deep plane facelift works beneath the SMAS layer,” said Dr Akshay Sanan.
“During a deep plane facelift, a surgeon releases the facial ligaments that ‘tether the face and neck down’. Releasing these ligaments allows the surgeon to ‘lift the entire facial soft tissue layer as a single unit,’ he said.”
It’s reportedly a “more complex procedure” and comes with a lot of risks.
They include: “…hematomas, infection, nerve injury, a prolonged healing process, and facial asymmetries or irregularities.”
