From prize money to bombshells: All the biggest differences between Love Island USA and UK
I love that Love Island USA winners can still choose to steal the entire prize pot
Both Love Island USA and UK are in full swing at the moment, but despite having the same iconic narrator, looking at you Iain Stirling, the two shows have some huge differences.
So, from bombshells to the vastly different prize pots, let’s have a look at the biggest differences between Love Island USA and UK.
Bombshells vs VIPs

We all know and love the bombshells that promise to shake things up in Love Island UK, however in the USA version these late arrivals are known as VIPs. And yeah, that really doesn’t hit the same way.
Hugely different prize pots
Love Island UK offers the winning couple £50k if they win the show, however in the USA version they can take home a whopping $100k!
The USA version of the show also still allows the two winning cast members to steal all of the money, instead of splitting it with their partner, something that has since been removed from the UK version.
Filming location

I’m afraid reality TV locations don’t get much more iconic than the Love Island UK villa, with the show being filmed in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in Mallorca.
Love Island USA was first filmed in Fiji during season one, before moving to Las Vegas for season two, with the third season taking place in Hawaii.
After the show moved to Peacock, the villa has since been in Fiji once again, and seems to be the place it’ll continue to be filmed in for future seasons.
Different hosts but the same narrator

Love Island UK has been hosted by Maya Jama since season nine, with the USA show being hosted by Sarah Hyland initially, before being taken over by Ariana Madix.
Despite their various differences in hosts, both of the shows are hosted by Iain Stirling, after all it wouldn’t be a Love Island show without him!
Live vs pre-recorded
Unlike Love Island UK, which is filmed live, Love Island USA is filmed roughly 19 hours ahead of being aired, thanks to the time difference between Fiji and America.
