Alicent (Olivia Cooke) gets a shock when she takes a proper look at what Helaena (Phia Saban) has been sewing in House of the Dragon season three episode six, and some viewers think it’s pointing to a huge secret. Things go from bad to worse for the mother-daughter duo after they’re caught for a second time trying to escape from the Red Keep. Alicent reveals Helaena’s pregnant, posing yet another threat to Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy). In exchange for her daughter’s safety, she reveals Helaena’s vision of Aemond’s (Ewan Mitchell) whereabouts at Harrenhal. In the end, Alicent agrees to be a decoy and travel to meet him, the plan being for the Blacks to swoop in and kill the surviving heir. Ultimately, she chooses her daughter over her son for a second time. Credit: HBO Prior to this moment, Helaena’s mental state is really starting to deteriorate. While sewing, she uses the needle to self harm. Alicent begs with her to eat something but she just walks away, at which point the camera closes in on Helaena’s needlework. The central focus is what looks like Aemond wrapped up inside a red womb, which has led to the theory that he could be the father to Helaena’s child. The theory isn’t entirely coming out of nowhere. House of the Dragon has never made it clear exactly when Helaena became pregnant. Most assume she and her actual husband/brother, Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), slept together, but it’s still confusing as this would’ve had to have happened before he got injured at Rook’s Rest but presumably after Blood and Cheese. Aemond and Helaena shared a unique bond, further fuelling speculation. Despite this, it’s widely believed that Aegon is the father, but this latest scene has reignited debate. One fan shared a screenshot of the needlework, writing, “Am I the only one who thought this means he’s the father?” Another quipped, “AEMOND TARGARYEN YOU ARE THE FATHER.” am i the only one who thought this means he's the father https://t.co/PnH9RxyU62 — viki ⋆. 𐙚 ̊ (@jacaervs) July 27, 2026 “Pretty sure he is the father,” a third agreed, while a fourth added, “Cause why is he laying in a vagina.” A fifth chimed in, “YESS LIKE?? Literally looks like a womb and that’s obviously Aemond.” As convincing as the theory is, it appears the imagery is actually Helaena’s vision of Aemond at Harrenhal. The large black structure behind the figure resembles the silhouette of Harrenhal’s ruined towers, and as we know, Aemond is metaphorically wrapped up by Alys (Gayle Rankin). Plus, in the next Alicent scene, she goes to Rhaenyra to reveal she knows Aemond’s location thanks to Helaena’s visions. So we can assume that’s what the tapestry really represents. But everything’s open to discussion. As one Redditor put it, “Helaena’s needlework… There’s some interesting stuff going on here that defies a singular interpretation.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
