The Wicked press tour has been deranged, of course – what else can you expect from impassioned theatre people? If you thought Lady Gaga did the most when she was doing press for A Star Is Born and House of Gucci, it is nothing in comparison to the dramatics that have gone down between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo on the Wicked press tour. Not that they can be fully blamed for it, because now one press clip has become a big meme from the Wicked tour as a journalist says that people “are taking the lyrics of Defying Gravity and holding space with that” and no one has a bloody clue what she means. Except Cynthia Erivo, who gets emotional.

Journalist Tracy E Gilchrist from Out is speaking with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, and says “I’ve seen this week people are taking the lyrics to Defying Gravity and really holding space with that and feeling power in that.” Cynthia then says “I didn’t know that was happening”, to which Gilchrist says “I’ve seen it, yeah.”

Cynthia replies “That’s really powerful. That’s what I wanted” and Ariana Grande clutches her finger in a very way.

Tracy E Gilchrist then confesses she’s only seen it “on a couple of posts” and doesn’t know how widespread it is. Well, you’re in luck Tracy – because it is now VERY widespread because people are so confused by the conversation that it’s gone viral and become a huge meme on Twitter.

My favourite part is the fact Defying Gravity has existed for so many years and I need to know who is only now “holding space” for it.

One of the most viral tweets dragging this clip has nearly 4 million views. Daniel Liu writes “I’m completely mesmerised by this clip. It’s almost like they are speaking a language I don’t understand. I can’t catch the sense of it for a single moment. I’m not understanding the words of the feelings or the energy at all. It’s amazing.”
